Don’t Cry My Children (poem)
Though bright sunny days were swallowed by night
Don’t cry my children don’t cry
-
And tomorrow appears nowhere in sight
Don’t cry my children don’t cry
-
Our star in heaven which once burned so bright
A darkness came to claim our hope’s delight
Don’t cry my children don’t cry
-
Undressed by confusion reason takes flight
My children don’t cry
-
We turn toward some anger to make things right
My children don’t cry
-
Awash in sorrow bleak pain is our plight
No signs of relief strange thoughts we ignite
Don’t cry my children don’t cry
-
From somewhere in the darkness of this rite
Our troubles make a special spark excite
Our heart and soul implore to hold it tight
And with His Grace our struggles we will fight
Till once again we feel the morning’s light
And when I aid my neighbors I’ll recite
Don’t cry my children don’t cry
